Marie Freeman, the author of Blue Ridge Blog, wins my eternal respect just for combining the words outhouse and dream in one cohesive haikuesque moment. She says she’s not that deep, which is what all southerners say to lull everyone else into a false sense of security. I am a southerner and we have so much suffering and strife in our past we’re a pretty deep bunch…well, except maybe for those slack-jawed hillbillies over in Auburn, Alabama. (oops…the Athens, Ga in me just sorta slipped out.) Anyway, Blue Ridge Blog is more than a cool tagline…the photography is absolutely stunning (and yeah that 1958 Yashica is tight…and so is the woman in the groovy smock…please do a fellow southerner a favor and let groovy-smock-woman know she is welcome in Athens, Ga anytime…seriously…anytime). And oh my, that photograph of the birds…really: that bird photograph is a masterpiece. Come on - it’s one thing to get the birds (incredible) but to get the tractor in bokeh in the background…that’s just bein’ showy. Insanely strong work.
