Flowering in profuse clusters of pink blossoms, 'Tournament of Roses' is a fitting tribute to its namesake.  While fragrance is light, 'Tournament of Roses' has the redeeming qualities of excellent disease resistance and ease of cultivation.  Flowers are two-toned medium pink.  Foliage is glossy on an upright bush of classic Grandiflora character.

Started in 1890, Pasadena's annual New Year's Day celebration is a national treasure.  The day originally began as a celebration of California's mild winter climate, where roses and other flowers may still be in bloom in January.  The event is called the 'Tournament of Roses', and originally included a floral festival modeled after the 'Battle of the Flowers' held in Nice, France.  The Tournament began with a procession of carriages adorned with flowers, followed by games in the afternoon such as tug-of-war and foot races.  The modern 'Tournament' includes a parade watched by an estimated 400 million people world-wide, followed by the Rose Bowl.
