Introduced:
1982,
David Austin, UK Pristine. Pure. 'Fair Bianca' has the good, and not so common, traits of bearing white flowers of Old Rose form on a compact, attractive plant. The flowers, crisp white displays of Old Rose elegance, are long lasting as cut flowers. Bloom are produced throughout the entire growing season, and fragrance is excellent (a trait which David Austin breeds for). Growth habit is somewhat upright, and the dark green foliage is a nice foil for the pure white flowers. Unfortunately, 'Fair Bianca' is susceptible to blackspot, mildew, and rust, so a spray program will most likely be needed to assure attractive displays of flowers and foliage. Named for the kind sister of Katherina, the shrew, from Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. |
