Foliage is generally healthy on almost thornless canes, although mildew may appear every once in a while. 'Clotilde Soupert' is one of those roses which will reward its minder with lush growth and flowering so long as attention is paid to proper culture; make sure that soil is rich and loamy, and fertilize regularly. As a matter of fact, Clotilde Soupert will be one of the first to show signs of chlorosis, poor soil, or lack of fertilizer. Watch for light green foliage as this will be the signal. 'Clotilde Soupert' would be a good choice as a container planting or for the middle of the mixed border. Also, there is a climbing sport which grows to fifteen feet and retains the good qualities of its parent. Polyantha Roses |
