AARS: 1991, Meilland
Class: Shrub
Zones: 3-9
Flowers: Pink with a white eye; creamy reverse;
double, 25-30 petals.
Size: 4 - 6 feet
Fragrance: Light
Of note: Blooms produced all season long on a disease resistant,
winter hardy plant.
'Carefree Wonder' does not bear flowers which can be considered first class in form; I
prefer 'Carefree Delight', a rose with bushier
habit and more delicate blooms than 'Carefree Wonder'. These reservations stated,
'Carefree Wonder' is a rose of many strengths. Disease resistant and cold hardy to
-15 degrees Fahrenheit, 'Carefree Wonder' produces masses of blossoms throughout the
entire season. Bloom production is truly prolific, and orange hips will be produced in Fall.
Flowers are bright pink, with a creamy reverse. Semi-double to
double, with 25-30 petals, the flowers are lightly fragrant. Growing four to six
feet in height, 'Carefree Wonder' makes a good hedge or background plant. The medium
green foliage is disease resistant.
