Rose Brandybrandy rose
AARS:  1982, Swim & Christensen, USA
Class:  Hybrid Tea
Zones:  6b-10
Parentage: 'First Prize' x 'Dr. A. J. Verhage'
Flowers:  Apricot blend, double/large (4"), 25-30 petals.

Size:  4 - 5 feet
Fragrance:  Moderate, fruity

Of note:  Large flowers are beautifully formed and uniquely colored.

*Note:  'Brandy' needs expert cultivation to show its best.

Breathtakingly beautiful, 'Brandy' is the epitome of understated elegance.  Well-formed flowers are the picture of the ideal for which other Hybrid Tea roses aspire, although the flowers do quickly mature from the 'perfect' stage to a rather open, informal form.  The color is a rich apricot; fragrance is good, with a fruity bouquet.

Growth is upright and vigorous, with large, medium-green, glossy leaves.  'Brandy' is best grown in beds specially prepared and devoted to roses. Resistance to blackspot is relatively poor, and properly prepared soil and a regular spray program will be of great benefit.  Also, 'Brandy' is not reliably cold hardy in cool climates.
